The school community spent the last April Saturday away from school. They went to the International Children‘s Festival for a second year in a row. Dressed in traditional Lithuanian clothes, students were preparing and practicing hard frin an early morning for the upcoming performace. In front of all festival goers, the little one‘s performed two dances and the bigger kids showed one performance on the biggest stage. Performances went quite well and for that we have to thank our wonderful, never-resting teacher Vanesa!
After the performance, the real festivities began for the students. They spent time in amusement park, played games, tried some cotton candy and viewed the performances of kids from other cultures. In the meantime, the adults stood on duty in the tent representing Lithuania. Here you could hear more about Lithuania, its history, view displays made by student Paulina and her mom Rasa, get to know Lithuanians and learn some Lithuanian language. Kids enjoyed making Lithuanian dolls the most. The paper dolls were being dressed in linen Lithuanian traditional clothes. Every kid could let their imagination run wild, excercised fine motor skills and learned how beautiful traditional Lithuanian costume is.
Even though the students did not spend the Saturday behind their desks at school, they learned a great lesson to be proud of and celebrate their culture, which is no less beautiful than other cultures.
We would like to thank Jurgita Mažeika for the photos and all parents, without whom we could not be able to participate in this festival.
